How to sell a Foot Locker gift card for cash in Nigeria: what a $100 card pays, the three storefronts, and the sale told backwards

Sep 15, 20266 min read

A young Nigerian man at a wooden desk at night in warm lamplight, chin on hand, studying a blank matte-black gift card lying flat beside his glowing phone, a pair of unbranded white sneakers resting on a shoebox

The alert comes last, but start there: a sealed $100 Foot Locker gift card pays ₦112,000 on the current board, straight into your Nigerian bank account. Everything that earns it — the written quote, the photos, the checks — runs inside one WhatsApp chat. This guide tells the trade in reverse, from the money back to your first message, because each step makes sense only when you know what it buys.

The price of sneaker credit in naira

A $100 Foot Locker card sells for ₦112,000 on the current board — ₦1,120 per dollar, one flat line from $10 to $500, so size moves the total and never the rate. Sealed plastic prices off that line. An e-gift code prices per card in chat, because an emailed code has no scratch panel to prove it unread; the delivery email is its papers.

Sneaker credit moves for a reason. Statista's forecast page put the global sneaker market at roughly $91 billion in 2025 — the cents hide behind its paywall, the scale doesn't — and Foot Locker is the mall face of that trade. Any sneaker buyer in America can spend the card, which is why it changes hands quickly here. The Foot Locker rate table carries the board line by face value, and the Foot Locker calculator does the arithmetic for the size you hold.

One card, three storefronts

The card spends at three storefronts, not one. Foot Locker's own gift-card product page says it in a line: "Shop at Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, and Champs Sports" — online and in store, at any of the three. An older help page still lists Lady Foot Locker, Footaction and Eastbay.com beside them; those banners have since closed, and the card outlived them. It has also outlived its owner: DICK'S Sporting Goods completed its purchase of Foot Locker in September 2025 — a combined chain of more than 3,200 stores across 20 countries — and the gift-card terms never blinked.

What the card will not do is leave North America. The product page marks e-gift cards "good for purchase only within the United States and Canada", the chain's shipping page quotes rates for American addresses alone, and its store locator — all 646 of them — is a US-only list. No till on this continent takes the card, so for anyone holding one in Nigeria the value comes home as naira or not at all.

The terms themselves are generous as store cards go. US federal law floors every gift card at five years of validity and bars inactivity fees in the first year (15 U.S.C. § 1693l-1); Foot Locker's gift-card terms clear that floor outright: "Our Gift Cards never expire and have no service or dormancy fees." Cards sell in any amount from $10 to $250, up to five ride one transaction, and one card cannot buy another. Our expiry guide maps this brand against the rest of the board.

Backwards from the alert

Read the sale from the end and each stage explains the one before it. Four things happen in a Foot Locker trade here; this is the order they happen in, backwards.

The alert

Last comes the credit alert — naira landing in your own account, at Access, Zenith, UBA or whichever Nigerian bank carries your name. Once the card passes its checks the money moves without ceremony, and most whole trades, first message to alert, fit inside one sitting.

The checks

Before the alert, the card had to pass. The buyer verifies balance and provenance at their end of the chat — but this brand lets you run the same reading first, free. Foot Locker's help desk calls it "our handy online tool" and asks for exactly "your gift card number and PIN", nothing more: type the address yourself (footlocker.com/giftcards/checkbalance.html), enter the two fields, and the balance reads back where it sits. No sign-in, and the lookup moves nothing.

Run it ahead of any chat — a dead card costs you two minutes at your own screen instead of an awkward conversation. One caution, though: those same two fields are what the till asks for, so the page is yours alone to type. A fake "checker" link from a stranger is a harvesting form. Our balance-check directory keeps the official page with the rest of the board's checkers.

The figure

Before the checks, the number. Your opening message draws a typed naira figure in reply — a sum sitting in the chat record that neither side can quietly edit. It stands until you speak: accept it and the trade moves on to photos; decline it and nothing has left your hands but a sentence.

The first message

And before the figure, the message that priced it — the only stage that costs nothing. That message carries almost nothing, either: the brand, the face value, and the form, rack plastic or an emailed code. Add the card's country if it isn't the US, and the delivery email or a till receipt if either survives. No digit from the card itself needs to travel yet.

Keep the lid on until the number lands

The balance page is free and quick — run it first. Then tell us the brand, the face value and the form: a figure comes back in writing, and the card's digits stay behind their panel until you say the figure suits you. New to the counter? A $10 card buys the full rehearsal.

The hands that reach for your code

Every script aimed at this brand hunts the same two fields the till wants. Learn the shapes once and they stop working on you.

The commonest arrives as politeness: "send the number and PIN so I can confirm the card is real." You confirmed it yourself, free, before the chat even started — so whatever the stranger wants those digits for, it is not confirmation. The second works the figure, not the card: a fat number up front, then a smaller "final" one after the code lands. The defense: a written quote that doesn't move, and the nerve to walk when it does. The third never touches your card at all: someone wearing an official's title, or a relative's name, instructs you to settle a bill, a fine or an emergency in gift cards. No genuine bill works that way — the moment a payment must be a card, the payment is the prize.

The terms note every guide in this series has owed you: Foot Locker's carry no resale clause. We read the page looking for the ban that Walmart, Google Play and Razer print, and it isn't there. What the terms do say is that cards are "not replaceable if lost, stolen, or used by a third party without your permission", and that they may not be "exchanged or redeemed for cash unless required by law". So the risk here never sat in a clause; it sits in the digits. Treat the digits like cash until a written figure earns your yes — and the longer pattern book is our scam checklist.

Backwards is how you check a sale; forwards is how short one is. Your message, the written figure, your yes, the alert — a trade with nothing else in it. Anything longer usually has a story buried in the middle, and in this market the story is the one part that is never free.

Questions, answered

How much is a $100 Foot Locker gift card in naira?

The current board’s flat line — ₦1,120 per dollar from $10 to $500 — pays ₦112,000 for a sealed $100 US card. E-gift codes price individually in chat; the Foot Locker calculator handles any amount.

Where can I sell my Foot Locker gift card in Nigeria?

Here, over one WhatsApp chat — your first message names the brand, amount and form, a written quote comes back, and the card’s digits stay put until you accept it. Weighing another counter? Our vendor-vetting guide shows what a trustworthy buyer looks like from the first reply.

How do I check a Foot Locker gift card balance before selling?

Foot Locker runs a free balance page — no account needed, nothing moving on the card. Enter the card’s 16-digit number and PIN there and the balance shows; the official link sits in our balance-check directory.

Do Foot Locker e-gift cards sell too, or only plastic?

Either form sells. Plastic with an intact panel prices off the board; e-gift codes quote per card in chat, since nothing proves an emailed code unread. The delivery email — Foot Locker sends it within two to three hours of purchase — does the receipt’s job, so keep it.

Does a Foot Locker gift card work at Champs Sports and Kids Foot Locker?

Yes — the brand’s product page says so in one breath, naming all three as places to shop, online and in store. An older help page adds three retired banners to that list; the live family today is these three.

Do Foot Locker gift cards expire?

No — the terms say the cards never expire and charge no service or dormancy fees, comfortably past the five-year minimum US federal law sets. Our expiry guide maps every brand on the board the same way.
